The Victorian Tailor is committed to preserving the loving legacy and provenance of heirloom lace, linens and historic textiles for future generations. Our mission is to restore and preserve the beauty and heritage of these exquisite pieces into a form that will be preserved into cherished keepsakes.

Victorian Tailor clothing is NOT "Up-Cycled". Our fashions are designed and sewn from original  antique linen's and laces. Wear all seasons, Natural antique linens and laces, many imported from Ireland and Germany. We use original Victorian Tailor patterns. You will find fun and charming decorations sewn onto each garment and more bits and bobs of other original pieces of antique laces, textiles and trims.

I grew up in a “Green” family. We never discarded clothing or household items that could be repurposed. Especially the beautiful clothes made with handmade laces and trims by dear family members. For this reason I am passionate about being “green” for  the environment and preserving  these timeless heirlooms. As early as nine years old I grew up learning to sew alongside my talented mother Elsie, and my milliner/seamstress Grandmother Ida. Instructed about the heirloom techniques of design, sewing, restyling and preservation of vintage fabrics and clothing. With this knowledge and experience I incorporated my love for these exquisite time pieces into my own clothing business.

I started my dream business while my four children were infants and toddlers.  Nap time was the time to take out the antique linens and laces, spread them on the dining room table and design, cut and sew my creations!

Although my mother and grandmother are gone now, I have many happy memories of us together sewing or looking through old button boxes while having a cup of tea. We would drape beautiful fabrics over the couch or dress form and imagine the fashions we could create with them.I am so blessed and thankful to have received this legacy and treasured moments together. I have so many times over the years felt such appreciation for the provenance learned and being able to pass on this knowledge to my own two daughters, and my two sons.

Now, it is time to pass on the family tradition to the next generation, my wonderful granddaughter’s and grandsons.

Thank you for visiting,

Celeste
