Here is a sweet little vintage pillowcase skirt that I made. The width of the pillowcase is 32 inches, so I just left it this size, made an elastic casing for the waist, so it just slips on and off.
FRONT BACK
I decorated this skirt before I sewed in the elastic, it is a lot easier to do this way. I used another piece of vintage linen for the pocket, a vintage hankie in the pocket and then little pieces of vintage lace where ever there was a flaw or spot. On this skirt I did add a ruffle of new lace on the hem which is the opening of the pillowcase. Someone years ago embroidered the sweet little flower baskets on the pillowcase.
Lay the pillow case flat and cut the top edge off at the closed end, then fold and press that edge 1/4 inch then another 1 inch over to make your casing for the elastic,
Here I am stitching the casing down, and here I am inserting the elastic the size of the waist, I also like to add a couple inches to the elastic size, because I like the amount to have a little more give to it, however you can measure the elastic amount however it feels comfortable on you. Then you simply stitch the two ends of elastic together and stitch the casing closed.
I hope you like this skirt and the instructions are easy to understand, please go back to my blog and leave a comment,
